Before we talk about the Pantone Color of the Year 2021, let’s explain what Pantone even is. Pantone is, in a nutshell, This means that when you have an exact color you love and want to use, the PMS – Pantone Matching System – can offer the formula to get the color exactly right.
This year, for only the second time ever, Pantone’s Color of the Year is actually TWO colors. They did this because they recognize that this past year has been a doozy and they wanted to offer a message in their picks.
So what are they? First, is a bright, sunny, lemony yellow that they call Pantone 13-0647 Illuminating. This is to represent a message of cheer, hope and optimism. The other is the solid but gentle gray of Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Gray to represent dependability and a solid foundation. Put together, these colors are meant to show strength and positivity, stability and hope.
